2019 EIG 1 Day Meeting

Summary of the 2019 1 day technical meeting

The EIG one-day event, a technical meeting on Quarry and Surface Mine Geotechnics was held in Warwickshire on 19th June 2019. The EIG would like to thank all of those who attended and supported the event for making it such a success. A summary of the days presentations and open discussions is provided below.

Event Summary

Close to 110 delegates were in attendance and the meeting followed a format of presentations and topic driven interactions with the audience.

In 2013, 2015 and 2017 the EIG held successful one day technical meetings in Warwickshire covering in detail 3 of the 4 main topic areas which are generally included in our 2 day Conferences. So far we have covered geotechnics, hydrogeology, exploration and investigations. As previously the intention is to have invited keynote speakers who are recognised authorities in their subject areas.

It was felt that as 2019 marked the 20th anniversary of the Quarries Regulations it is poignant that we reflected on that and looked to the future. The meeting covered legislation, state of the art practice and recent developments but also considered in detail the Regulations, their adequacy and implementation in practice.
